Sewing Roman Shade Rings

Step 1:

First, select and prepare your thread. Choose a color that is similar in color to your face fabric. The thread will be seen from the front side. You will be sewing all the way through from the back to the front.

Before getting started, thread the needle with 4 strands of thread leaving enough length to sew all of the rings down the row without stopping.

Step 2:

Stitch your first ring on at the first mark nearest the top of the shade. Continue down the row making stitches and sewing on rings as you go without cutting the thread. On the last ring at or near the bottom hem, make one or more extra stitches to add strength. Remember, it is the last ring that does most of the heavy lifting. Cut the thread at the last ring and repeat for all rows.

Step 3:

Now that all of your rings have been attached, cut away all extra thread between rings and form your knots by tying two ends together with a double square knot. You might consider using a small bead of Elmers glue to secure the knots from unraveling.
